The world is forever altered after a travelling pregnant woman visits the home of her elderly cousin who harbours a miraculous secret.

Inspired by the enigmatic intimacy of the Biblical painting, The Visitation, this film reimagines Mary’s brief visit to her cousin, Elizabeth, on the way to Bethlehem. Mary is surprised to discover that her older cousin is also miraculously pregnant.

Their 24-hour visit unfolds as a quiet, meditative, dreamlike escape against the tumultuous backdrop of personal and political uncertainty. Both women are changed in the understanding that their parting will usher in a radically different world.

THE VISITATION speaks to the transcendent power of feminine connection and intuition; the double-edged sword of faith; and a desire to humanise the lives of two women often seen as “supporting acts” to the greater purpose of Man.

THE VISITATION was a finalist for Female Film Club’s 50k production grant, winner announced at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.
