BIOGRAPHY
Lillian Leigh Constance is a New York-based writer for the screen and stage
whose characters navigate the tensions between feminism, faith, ambition and autonomy. For television, Constance has four pilots in development. Ministries follows a hospital chaplain in London who moonlights as a dominatrix. The pilot for La Gringa, a bilingual four-season period drama about Evangelical missionaries in Buenos Aires, was developed under the mentorship of Paul Ashton (Head of Film & TV at Creative UK). College Moms is a dramedy set in 2035 about a radical solution to plummeting birth rates. And in collaboration with journalist Hannah Cho, Constance has written Corporate Moms, a dystopian workplace drama set in Seoul.
Constance’s short film, The Visitation, a retelling of the Biblical visit of the pregnant Mary to her pregnant cousin Elizabeth, was a finalist for Female Film Club’s 50k production grant, awarded during the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. Poppy’s Aquarium, her animated short film about childhood sexual abuse, was included in Rianne Pictures “Rianne Reads” scheme and earned her a spot in the Bright Little Labs (a Warner Bros Company) Creative Pool.
Constance was co-author of the play Call Me Suicidal, which ran at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival following a debut at Riverside Studios in London. Her short play Vaishnavi’s First Christmas was commissioned by Kris.P Productions and performed at their virtual showcase in 2020.
At the University of Oxford, Constance studied playwriting under the tutelage of Angie Johnson. She has a Masters Degree in Script Writing from University of the Arts London.
At Rosemary’s House Writing Residency, Constance has been mentored by Kaveh Akbar (Martyr!), Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah (Friday Black), and Ryan Calais Cameron (For Black Boys…).
In articles for publications including WebMD, ADDitude Magazine, Psycom and Commonweal Magazine, Constance has addressed topics ranging from the prevalence of abusive relationships among women with autism to challenges faced by mothers raising non neurotypical children.
